Common questions
What happens when paid tiers launch?
You'll get a €10 credit as a thank you and your plan will automatically switch to Base at a promotional price (€5/mo). You'll also have an option to switch to another plan at any time. Any unused part of credit will be carried over.
Do credits expire?
Credits never expire. You can put your subscription on pause and use them later.
Do you offer refunds?
We can refund the unused amount at any moment within 60 days of charge for monthly subscriptions, or within 10 months for annual. If you cancel an annual subscription, each month when it was used corresponds to 10% of paid amount. Pausing your subscription doesn't extend the maximal refund period but respective time isn't counted as usage. Credits are non-refundable.
What happens if you have a promotion after I subscribe?
Promotions are applied _retroactively_ to all clients that meet promotion conditions. If you paid a higher price earlier, the difference will be added to your credit and can be used in the future. For example, if you were paying €20/mo for 3 months and then we offer a promotional price of €10/mo to new users, you'll also get a non-refundable €30 credit that can be used to subscribe for 3 more months, assuming that promotion is still active.
Can I export my data if I stop using Semnote?
Your files are stored in your browser locally and can be synced, exported, published, or shared at any moment in any supported format. If you stop using Semnote, you can still access your copies unless they're deleted. If you use our cloud storage and exceed your subscription tier quota, we'll store your files for two or more weeks, then they may be deleted.
Is Semnote open-source?
Yes. See Licensing for terms. Business clients also get a commercial licence.
